Flat panel detector technologies are classified to two types, direct conversion method and indirect conversion method. Direct conversion method uses a-Se, photo-conductor, and indirect conversion method makes use of a scintillator, CsI:TI or Gd2O2S:Tb, and a-Si TFT. 

 

There are many points of evaluations of these methods, less exposure, image quality, stability and safety, etc. Indirect method using Gd2O2S:Tb has good characteristics in the points of stability, safety, economy and ecology.

 

In digital radiographing systems using Gd2O2S:Tb fluorescent screen, many methods as like below are applied including Flat Panel Detector System.

  • High Image Quality type: FPD area sensor covered by screen

  • Foods and Baggage Inspection: line sensor covered by slit screen

  • Easy and brief structure type: CCD camera with fluoroscopic screen
